TOPIC:  "More Than Words: Turning Behavior into Conversation"

FLYING IN TO WORLD PARROT EXPO FROM NEW JERSEY:

Lisa A. Bono started her journey in aviculture five decades ago. Her life’s path was guided by a single yellow parakeet who was the center of her world. That little bird, Tweety, taught her unconditional love and of a relationship that could be fostered between a bird and human. Through all of life’s twists and turns, the one constant in Lisa’s life was her companion parrots. As life forged forward, it only seemed appropriate to find herself immersed in the middle of the parrot world and loving every minute of it. Ms. Bono is a certified parrot behavior consultant with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She founded The Platinum Parrot in 2008 and Grey Parrot Consulting shortly thereafter. Lisa has been fortunate that she has been presented with opportunities that enabled her to grow, learn and teach. Ms. Bono produces a webinar series for Lafebers called “The Grey Way” as well as “Parrots, Past & Present”. She has authored articles for BirdTalk, BirdsUSA, BirdChannel, In Your Flock, as well as various bird club newsletters, worldwide. She was the youngest person to start a bird club in NJ at the age of 21 and is the Avian & Exotics handler for her local Animal Response Team to help in times of natural disasters. Lisa has hosted conferences as well as being an invited keynote speaker at others. Ms. Bono has embraced education over the last three and a half decades including the LLP course: Living & Learning with Parrots, Living & Learning with Animals, behavior and medical conferences. Her greatest joy and best teachers have been her flock of greys: Sydney Bell, Emma Lynn, Stirling and Sammy Lee.
